The Star : New Malaysian

What is New Malaysian? A New Malaysian (NM) is someone who devoid of any ethnics deviation. NM is a liberal Malay, Chinese and Indian. NM is someone who think that others who think otherwise is racist.

The Star celebrate this NM. NM is celebrate to be a hero of the youth. They will be hail as the cream of the crop. To be NM you need to devoid mentioning your ethnic. In other word, it a shame to be known Malay, Chinese or Indian. You suppose to be a Malaysian. No other races was excepted. It a Malaysian only. It also a taboo for NM to speak what religion they in.

Now what wrong with that, they said. Well for one thing, you try to create something call raceless.  In doing this you try to strip out all Jati Diri from the youth. You try to make them forget the rich history of their Asian ancestor. Malay, Indian and Chinese ethnicity who have a rich history.

Why do you feel ashamed when hailing from these ethnic. Why do you feel ashamed to tell the world that you come from races that rich and full of cultural history. The races that existed tens thousand years ago. The races that can trace their history to Before Centuries. The countries that existing in the Meritime map more than America ever existing. And some want to be American. Duhh.

Why oh why you feel ashamed to belong to these great races.

Long before the European form their culture, the Asian busy building the country. The Asian busy trading among themselves. The Asian go far and wide a cross Asian for trading and sharing wealth.

For me, this is why Malaysia can achieved what she achieved because we have learn to co exist for so long. We can leave together because our ancestor has been mix together for so long. The world always wonder, how different races can leave in harmony here. The answer is, we have been expose for centuries to one another that we actually race blind. We just except it as what it is, A Malay, Chinese, Indian, European, Japanese, Korean or others without ever thinking anything else. A race is a race. Nothing you can do about it except working together.

So Why you want to change to NM where if you want to trace it history, it is only 56 years long. Now, some say because their sons or daughters have no ethnic identities because their parents comes from different races. Oh what a  medieval way of thinking. When a children comes from parents of different races, what happen was the children inhered the best of both world. If you want your children to be know only as Malaysian, you strip them of their inheritance of this culture. Why you want to do that?

Long ago,  a lot of stories been told about the handsome prince and beautiful princes. Take a look at what a lot of people tend to glance thrue.

His father married to a princess from far away country.
When a king go hunting, he meet with a beautiful girl and married her.

Did you think the girl or princess come from the same countries?   Don't you think it a telling signal when they write how the king go hunting for several day and sometimes several month?

Do you think that a kingdom on that time was like a  kampung nowsday. Just a few kilometres for one another. Look back at Maritime map and try to think again. Mix marriage in Asian has happen long before any of you ever existing. That why some Asian look like a resemblance to other races.

Especially a Malay. Look carefully. Why these happen? If you look at maritime map Tanah Melayu was in the middle of The Great China and Indian. A lot of Chinese and Indian traders married to local. You won't know it, but, the blood will tell they say. Some of their kin will look different. While everyone was brown, he/she will be fair or when everyone was fair he/she will be brown. The nose or hair was different. Don't you think it a telling signal that somewhere a long the  line of history, their ancestors come from inter marriage to other races?

And for whatever reasons, you want to be NM.

Some argue that they was born here. Than tell me, how the NM suppose to look. The Chinese have their mata sepet (even when some Malay or Indian have mata sepet - look carefully), the Indian with curly dark hair and long eyelashes (some Malay and Chinese also have this) and the Malay with their sawo matang skin colour (even when some Malay was very fair or have a darker complexion).

So, NM, what can we use to introduce them. Some will look like European with high nose, fair skin, curly brown hair and long eyelashes (They get the best of Chinese and Indian). Only a little bit short than average European. If that what you want to use as an example, than what about the one who come from the same breed but don't have a luck in inherited the best? Fair to them? By the end of it they will be brand as either Chinese or Indian. It depend which side they inherited more.

That why, I don't agree with this NM. It so faceless that you was strip of yourself. You will never know the best of the worlds. With short history of 56 years what we can claim of our own. KLCC? Menara KL? KLIA? That;s it.

How about Lembah Bujang/Langkasuka for a Malay? Mesopotamia's for Chinese or The Maurya or Gupta for Indian . NM has none of that History. You cannot claim it unless you are either from Malay, Chinese or Indian or come from both of either races.

A friend, who look like a Englishman to the bone, claim that he is a Malay. He very proud of his inheritance. When you meet him, you who cannot speak a Malay after  living here your entire life will feel ashamed. Why? He can speak fluent Malay with the accent of Negri. He never claim to be a European. How about you NM. can you top him up?
